In short

Mercury runs in reverse for about three weeks, three or four times a year. New things stall, but old ones almost finish themselves: the unwritten gets written, the lost turns up, the stuck finally moves. Take the list that has been annoying you for months and clear it.

Mercury turns its motion backwards. This is not a crisis, just a shift in tempo. Communication tangles, plans collapse at the last minute, technology glitches. It is not random, it is the texture of these weeks.

This cycle repeats three to four times a year. Its job is to bring you back to what you skipped or ignored while moving fast. Anything left unfinished tends to surface now.

Frequently asked questions

  • When is Mercury retrograde 2027?

In 2027 Mercury turns retrograde 3 times: February 9 – March 3; June 10 – July 4; October 7 – October 28. Each date is the day it stations, calculated from astronomical tables on US Eastern time; in another time zone a station can fall a day earlier or later.

  • How often does Mercury go retrograde?

3 to 4 times a year, for about three weeks. A retrograde is an optical effect: seen from Earth, the planet seems to stop and move backwards against the stars. In astrology that slowdown turns its themes back for review instead of pushing them forward.

  • Does Mercury retrograde affect every sign?

Yes, the same retrograde happens for everyone at once, which is why its meaning on this page is one for all signs. Where it lands in your own life depends on your birth chart. The Nua app shows which part of your chart it passes through and when.
